Jesus Christ — The Sapphire of Remembrance
A brilliant natural gemstone, an intricate radiant design, and a biblical connection come together in this Phimsera Natural Blue Sapphire Ring.
At the center of the ring is a 5×7mm natural blue sapphire in an elegant oval shape. The rich blue gemstone is surrounded by a dramatic radiating halo composed of round and elongated clear accent stones, creating a luminous sunburst appearance. Additional sparkling accents continue along the shoulders of the band.
The ring is crafted in 925 Sterling Silver and is available in Platinum Plated, Gold Plated, and Rose Gold Plated finishes.
For this Phimsera design, we have chosen the name The Sapphire of Remembrance because sapphire has a particularly meaningful place within Scripture. The connection is not based upon assigning supernatural power to the gemstone. Rather, it comes directly from the biblical text in which sapphire is named among the precious stones associated with God's instructions for the high priest's breastplate.
Biblical Inspiration — Sapphire and the Breastplate of Judgment
In Exodus 28, God gives Moses instructions concerning the garments of Aaron, Israel's high priest. The breastplate was to contain twelve stones arranged in four rows. In the King James Version, sapphire is explicitly named as the middle gemstone of the second row.
Exodus 28:18 — King James Version
“And the second row shall be an emerald, a sapphire, and a diamond.”
The following verses explain that there were twelve stones corresponding to the names of the sons of Israel—the twelve tribes.
This provides a genuine biblical basis for incorporating sapphire into a Christian jewelry design. It should not, however, be described as “Jesus' breastplate.” Scripture identifies this breastplate with Aaron and the high priestly garments. This Phimsera ring is inspired by the biblical presence of sapphire; it is not presented as a reproduction of the breastplate.
Sapphire in the New Jerusalem
Sapphire appears again prominently in Revelation's description of the New Jerusalem.
Revelation 21:19 — King James Version
“And the foundations of the wall of the city were garnished with all manner of precious stones. The first foundation was jasper; the second, sapphire; the third, a chalcedony; the fourth, an emerald;”
Here, sapphire is identified as the second foundation in the description of the city's jeweled foundations.
Together, Exodus and Revelation give sapphire an especially interesting place within biblical gemstone imagery: it appears among the stones of the high priest's breastplate in the Old Testament and among the foundations described in the New Jerusalem in the New Testament.
The spiritual significance belongs to God and His revealed Word, not to the physical gemstone.
Natural Blue Sapphire
The centerpiece of this ring is a natural blue sapphire measuring approximately 5×7mm.
Sapphire belongs to the mineral species corundum and has a Mohs hardness of 9. GIA notes that sapphire's hardness, toughness, and lack of cleavage make it particularly suitable for rings and jewelry exposed to regular wear.
Natural sapphires can display individual variations in color, transparency, inclusions, and internal characteristics. These natural characteristics help distinguish one gemstone from another.
Phimsera does not assign an origin, treatment status, or laboratory clarity grade to this sapphire unless that information is specifically provided for the individual product.
Gemstone Meaning & Symbolism
Across jewelry traditions, blue sapphire has been associated with ideas such as wisdom, truth, faithfulness, sincerity, and integrity.
For this Phimsera piece, however, its Christian meaning is grounded specifically in Scripture rather than supposed gemstone powers.
The sapphire does not provide wisdom, protection, healing, divine favor, salvation, or spiritual power. Those claims are not being made for this jewelry.
Instead, the gemstone serves as a beautiful natural reminder of precious stones that Scripture itself names.

Why You'll Love This Piece
This ring combines the intense blue beauty of a natural sapphire with a highly detailed radiant halo design. The 5×7mm oval center gemstone remains the focal point while alternating round and elongated accent stones create a distinctive sunburst appearance.
Its biblical connection adds another layer of meaning. Sapphire is specifically named in the KJV account of Aaron's breastplate and again among the foundations described in Revelation's New Jerusalem.
For someone who values both natural gemstones and Scripture-inspired jewelry, the design brings those two elements together without attributing spiritual power to the stone itself.

Jewelry Care
Avoid bleach, chlorine, household cleaners, and other harsh chemicals. Remove your jewelry before strenuous exercise, swimming, bathing, or household cleaning.
Store the ring separately in its jewelry box when it is not being worn.
For routine cleaning, gently clean the jewelry with warm water, mild dish soap, and a soft-bristled toothbrush. Avoid harsh or abrasive cleaning methods.
GIA identifies sapphire as corundum with a Mohs hardness of 9 and notes that it generally has excellent toughness, making sapphire well suited to jewelry; nevertheless, proper care is still important for both the gemstone and its setting.
